Beer Sheva, the capital of southern Israel, held a competition to design a 5,000 sqm family center for children with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. The building is integrated into both the park and the surrounding urban environment, with a pathway that allows pedestrians to walk from the city down the roof towards the park. Soft curves and clear circulation define the design, with outdoor spaces that connect to the interior, bringing nature and daylight inside. Patios carved into the building and landscape offer spaces for special outdoor activities, while sensory ‘nooks’ provide private, relaxed areas both inside and outside.
